This village on the Intercoastal Waterway was little more than spot for people to fuel up on the trip south from Hampton Roads. Three marinas catered to the tourists with a small flair of rustic charm and friendly banter. After the Big Mistake the residents were forced to rely more firmly on water traffic, so the community has grown. Most of the people in Currituck had their share of firearms and ammunition, but folks like the Harrison’s had enough weaponry to start a militia. As the neighbors moved in closer, all of the families in the area fortified the little town to protect themselves against threats.
